Our Saining (Blessings and Protection) Smudges are hand picked and handmade by Ankh-sen-Aset, Iseum artisan, priestess, and Reiki Mistress.Saining is a Scots word for blessing, protecting or consecrating. The word “Sain” is from Irish and Scottish Gaelic seun and sian and means “a protective charm.” Traditional saining was done by burning juniper. All the herbs and flora (Cedar, Juniper and Rosemary) grow wild on our Sanctuaries.
Ancient Egyptians prized Cedar and used it in their incense and offering ceremonies. The Pharaohs cultivated incense trees and imported expensive resins to satisfy the needs of Egypt’s prolific temples and tombs.
JUNIPER revives the mind and ushers in strength of spirit that blocks negative energy from entering. Used in purification ceremonies, burning Juniper washes away doubt, hesitation, hostility and judgement. Burning Juniper throughout the home helps cleanse and protects against negativity.
ROSEMARY is the herb of Remembrance, Protection and Love. It provides good luck, protection, and purification. One name for rosemary is “Elfinplant”- it is magical!
These together provide powerful protection as well as revealing and uplifting spirits. Within each of our smudges is a tiny crystal or semi-precious stone – Imagine how powerful this is!The CRYSTAL SMUDGE is an original concept by San Aset, and she has been creating these for friends and family for almost 20 years. These smudges create an energy unlike any other smudge and have been used at births, weddings, holidays and in memorial services.Attached to each of these smudges is an infused Quartz crystal. Quartz helps to elevate your consciousness and bring clarity into your life. It is clear light, cleansing and purifying energy fields.
Each smudge is different and the pictures here represent how they look. We don’t have a huge inventory of pre-made smudges. These are made carefully, with positive intention, and blessed with loving nature as well as being supercharged. These are actual pictures of the Bast House and smudges in the process of being created. Each smudge and all the crystals have been blessed in the Bast House temple (see picture.)
Bast (also known as Bastet) is the ancient Egyptian Goddess of protection and cats. Re, our Mau Cat, is meditating in the Bast House, with happy cat thoughts.
